ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to examine the necessity of corporate social responsibility for organizational growth with special reference to Dangote cement factory Kogi State. Specifically, the study ascertain if organizations carry out their corporate social responsibilities, find out if poor business behavior towards customers have effect on organizational growth, examine if treating employees unfairly influences organizational growth, know the roles of corporate social responsibility on community development and ascertain the relationship between corporate social responsibility and the profitability of an organization.. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 30 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analyzed, the findings revealed that organizations carry out their corporate social responsibilities. Also poor business behavior towards customers have effect on organizational growth. Furthermore, treating employees unfairly influences organizational growth. More so, the roles of corporate social responsibility on community development is closer ties and interdependencies between corporations and community, sharing the costs the society has to pay due to environmental degradation and transfer of technology from international companies to developing. Lastly, there is a positive relationship between corporate social responsibility and the profitability of an organization . The study thereby recommend that Organizations are also advised to invest a sizeable chunk to Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes, especially in provision of jobs and scholarships to host communities. This will, according to the findings of this paper, boost the image of their organization and re-enforce loyalty and organizational citizenship.
